If I had to guess, someone added that emblem on the back because I think this is a plain (not 500) Galaxie. The thin side trim is the giveaway. Ford tried to eliminate the stripper big Ford for 62, probably figuring that the new Fairlane had that market handled. I think the Galaxie was akin to the Chevy Bel Air and then the Galaxie 500 battled the Impala. These are hard to find online let alone in person!!
Yep, looks like you’re right. If it were a genuine Galaxie 500, it should also have a ribbed chrome trim piece between the tail lights (including the part where the “500” logo is). Thanks for the tip!
