I have a soft spot for the 64 Ford, but having grown up around them I think this is a Custom 500. The base Custom (without the 500) got the 3 hash marks on the front fender. The Custom 500 added a thin horizontal stainless strip and the Galaxie 500 got the thick trim that covered the bulge of the front fender and the thin strip that went all the way back. The XL added a little oval emblem at the back. I clearly know too much about these.
Right again! Thanks for the correction. I honestly didn’t even know there were full-sized Fords in 1964 that weren’t branded as a Galaxie — now I have to look back at all the ’64 “Galaxies” I’ve photographed to make sure I haven’t misidentified any others.
